Explore our ancestral world of traditional archery during this amazing 5 day camp for teens ages 12-16. We’ll discover what it takes to turn a tree into an effective tool that both provides for and protects us. Experienced bowyer & outdoor skills educator Chris Hyde will guide campers from a wooden board to gorgeous bow along with how to make primitive arrows with real turkey feathers and deer sinew. Each student will leave the class with their own custom made Red Oak Bow with a custom handle grip and bow string as well as 2 arrows. During the class students will also explore areas of:
- Bow & arrow designs & performance
- Properties of good bow & arrow woods
- How to use rasps, scrapers & sandpaper
- Using your new wooden longbow & arrows
- Instinctive archery skills & techniques
In addition to the above, students will also get a chance to learn and practices the methods of professional longbow archers so that they have the knowledge, skills, confidence and safety needed to continue with their passion for archery at home or when attending our future classes.
