When it comes to primal tools, there is nothing more exciting than the first time you successfully throw an atlatl dart across a giant field. During this exciting hands-on class, students will have fun being challenged to use throwing stick, throwing spears, primitive slings and an atlatl. Experienced outdoor educators will work closely with students to make sure safety is used at all times during the day. Students will also explore areas of:
- How to use stone tools
- Carving with a knife
- Making an atlatl and dart
- Wilderness awareness skills
- Sneaking & stalking skills
In addition to the above, students will also get a chance to see how primitive hunting tools were practiced and used for harvesting wild game long ago. Through hands-on crafting, sneaking games and challenges we will show students how to become proficient with these incredible ancient tools. Experienced atlatl throwers will show proper form and technique when it comes to holding and releasing your dart for effective power and accuracy. Hands-on crafting, sneaking games and challenges will be used in order to teach all of the above.
