Go beyond the basics of modern outdoor living during this exciting primitive skills camp all about experiencing life as a hunter-gatherer along the river from long ago. We will solve various tasks of day to day life back then such as constructing a natural shelter for a group, making fire through friction, locating and purifying water for drinking and we’ll also get to explore:
- How to craft tools using wood, stone & bone
- How to obtain wild plant & animal foods
- How to make natural fibers into rope for binding
- How to stalk and camouflage yourself like wild animals
- How our ancestors created natural paints & inks for art
- How to create containers for carrying supplies and cooking
In addition to the above, campers will also be shown how to take care of themselves when it comes to outdoor travel. Things such as keeping up with their gear, keeping their space clean in the park, the importance of staying hydrated and how to not get lost. This is a very exciting hands-on camp where parents should expect kids to come home wet, dirty and tired at the end of each day, but filled with stories of adventures and challenges as well as new skills to share with friends and family each day.
