When it comes to outdoor skills, nothing comes close to the skill of being able to make your own wooden longbow. During this amazing two day class for teens ages 13-16, experienced bow maker Chris Hyde will guide them from wooden board to wooden bow and teach them all about this almost forgotten skill. Each student will leave the class with their own custom hand made Red Oak Bow complete with a custom handle grip and bow string. During the class students will also explore areas of:
- Bow designs & performance
- Properties of good bow woods
- How to use rasps, scrapers & sandpaper
- Using your new wooden longbow
- Instinctive archery skills & techniques
In addition to the above, students will also get a chance to learn and practices the methods of professional longbow archers so that they have the knowledge, skills, confidence and safety needed to continue with their passion for archery at home or when attending our future classes.
