Interested in our outdoor skills programs but aren’t sure where to start? Want to get to know Natureversity better and see what it is we do? Looking to become a part of a fun loving and passionate outdoor community? Then our Afternoon Nature Skills Practice is perfect for you. Whether its carving a journey stick, sewing a buckskin bag, practicing fire making, or exploring plants on a walk, its an excellent way to learn something new and get outside.

The idea is to have a space where anyone can practice outdoor nature skills and crafts together while at the same time experiencing a new part of Austin. However, as we get started each Sunday afternoon will contain a certain theme or focus for the group to work on together. But if anyone coming wants to work along side us on any other skill, we’re happy to share space. Below is our 2019 schedule:

  • October – Wildlife Tracking (Roy G. Guerrero Park)
  • November – Coal Burned Spoons (Mary Moore Searight Park)
  • December – Deerskin Pouches (Mary Moore Searight Park)

Each afternoon participants arrive, set up work areas with supplies they brought, we practice our skills together, clean up and head home. We want it to be simple, but at the same time meaningful to our outdoor skills community. By meeting new people each month we grow more as a community to inspire others to get outdoors and learn about our local region in order to cultivate a deeper sense of appreciation and reverence for it. There are so many opportunities to learn at our free afternoon classes. Join us for our next afternoon practice and find out for yourself.
