Explore the Past: Free Archaeology Events at Natureversity Outdoor School

Join us every Monday for an engaging series of free events at Natureversity Outdoor School, designed to help the Capital Area Master Naturalists earn Advanced Training hours while inviting the public to delve into the fascinating world of archaeology. Each week, we will explore the daily lives of traditional and indigenous communities who thrived in harmony with the Earth long ago.

Our sessions will cover a variety of hands-on topics, including:

  • Containers: baskets, pottery, hollow stalks, gourds and even cactus
  • Ancient artistry: jewelry, shells, beads, stones, bones and more
  • Prehistoric hunting: atlatls, throw sticks, bows, slings, bolas, traps and more
  • Tools from long ago: cordage, bone and stone, wood and more

Whether you’re a Master Naturalist looking to expand your knowledge or a curious member of the community, these events are perfect for anyone interested in understanding the skills and traditions that shaped our ancestors’ lives. Come join us as we connect with history and celebrate the resourcefulness of those who lived close to the Earth!
