Lets face it parents, you can’t always be the only ones out there trained and expecting the entire family to depend upon only you. What would be best is if each family member were self-sufficient in each basic area of living in a post-disaster or wilderness survival setting. This course offers youth and teens the opportunity to experience first-hand what it takes to remain calm and think straight when dealing with minor injuries in the backcountry. This course will cover all the basics of wilderness first aid that children can best help with if given the proper guidance and training. Topics such as:
- Sanitation & Hygiene
- Scrapes, Cuts, & Wounds
- Burns
- Insect Stings & Bites
- Hypothermia
- Dehydration
Participants will get a chance to experience each of these through hands on scenarios and case studies that help build appreciation and confidence when adventuring outdoors. Youth and teens who attend this course are given the skills they need to also help out the instructors in future camps as volunteers should a camper accidentally injure themselves. Although this isn’t a certified course, your child will walk away with experience in the field that turns education and knowledge into wisdom.
